What to put on our display shelves?

I played around the with shelves tonight. And I think the big issue with them is that they are very deep. So if I put books on them there is either a large gap behind (if I pull them forward) or in front (if I push them back).

Would a collection of baskets be too old ladyish? I think they might fill the space nicely.

I store vases there. I also put in a few things people can touch - maracas from a wedding, non-sexual adult toys, candles, etc.

You don't have to use the entire depth of the shelf, just pull it out to what looks good. No baskets.

PP- Well which cabinet would you display your adult toys?
