August most violent month in Chicago in nearly 20 years

Soooooo, it looks like this Chicago all-time high violence stuff is being cross-posted all around the internet. It's apparently supposed to tie into the "America is in Crisis" narrative that the foreign trolls are pushing in order to influence the election.

Don't fall for it.

Don't you dare be so cavalier about the killings in Chicago. A friend posted on Facebook today about the killing of a 15 year old boy who attends Oak Park High School with her daughter. He and a friend were out at 10:30 pm in the wrong place and he was shot in the back of the head. Police have determined that neither was involved in a gang, and they can find no motive for the murder. So when a 15 year old boy is killed for no reason, a city is violent.

Anyone have an idea of just what the top secret modus operandi Mr Trump has for addressing said violence?
It's a given that gun control is off the table because no matter how many innocent 15 year-olds get killed for no reason there is no way in hell Republicans will allow the sacred 2nd Amendment to be violated so what has Donnie Boy got in mind to fix things seeing how he cares so much about blacks in the inner city.
Wait, don't tell me...ramp up racial profiling, pour more money into the militarization of local police, and institute some type of mandatory minimum sentencing laws for juvenile offenders of minor crimes so that more kids can go to jail - that should do the trick, right?

Im not speaking for Trump, but surely, a majority of the violence is perpetuated by persons with high school educations or less.

Education, or a lack of, is everything.

I would add family and spiritual values, but unfortunately, the government cannot offer that to anybody.

So my solution if it were up to me would be a focus on education, focus on youth programs, and to take a look at whether subsidized or lower income housing could somehow be more spread across the city if it isnt. Better neighborhood, better education.

An increased investment in education is certainly an admirable and understandable recourse but it's not enough.
Chicago has the greatest racial disparity in young adult employment rates. A recent report by the Brookings Institution showed that among 20 to 24 year-olds the Chicago area's employment rate is only 47 percent for blacks, the lowest among the big cities, and 73 percent for whites, which is among the highest. Contrary to popular and widespread belief it is not a mere matter of misplaced morals and a corrupt culture that fuels the violence it is poverty, plain and simple. With no employment prospects many resort to illegal activities to make money and since there is no job security in such activities then violent turf wars and deadly conflicts to intimidate or eliminate competition become commonplace.
It's all about the C.R.E.A.M.
