Would you go further North? I would say Nova Scotia sounds a lot closer to the UK /Scotland & Eire places you described.

Agree with Casco Bay - check out Bailey Island. Sleepy, gorgeous, and close enough to plenty of other places good to check out too.

If you have a few weeks, what about Nova Scotia? Cape Breton is amazing and fits the rocky coast theme.

I know a family that has spent the summers on MacMahon Island for at least the last 30 years. They love it. Obviously.
