looking for a new tv show to watch before bed - like Cougar Town, Gilmore Girls, Psych, etc

And this is coming from someone who's DVR is filled with lots of reality TV, over the top, gratuitous programming. I think that I like to watch Hallmark because it reminds me of the shows I used to watch when I was in HS in the 80s. And it's a nice change from all that other type of programming.

When Calls the Heart is actually a Hallmark show. It's a little sappy, but definitely what you describe.

I keep trying to start parks and rec and falling asleep!

I can't get through the first episode of Game of Thrones either.

Master of None on Netflix is good. There's just one short season.

Is Ugly Betty streaming anywhere? That was fun.

Agree with the PP who suggested Royal Pains. Also Drop Dead Diva--I think it was on Lifetime but it's pretty good---about a model who died and is sent back to earth in the body of a plus-sized attorney.

Colin Hanks and Bradley Whitford --and it still got only one season.

One of the only half hour shows I have on my DVR is Last Man on Earth. You might enjoy that one.

You might like Mistresses?

Republic of Doyle on Netflix is light entertainment - kind of a modern day Rockford Files set in Canada. I really enjoyed it.

It's late and I'm an insomniac, so I ran across another good one for you-everybody hates Chris. Terry crews as the dad to Chris Rock as a kid was pretty great.

Happy Endings

The Fosters is a good one.

OP again - and I'm feeling like a real TV fiend. We've LOVED P&R but seen it so many times now that I need a break. Happy Endings was our before-bed show last year. I haven't tried JTV yet - it sounds like I should give it a go, right?

Have you seen Pushing Daisies?

OP again: Haven't seen Better Off Ted or Pushing Daisies! Was so sad when Suburgatory was cancelled. That was such a damn good show. Glad to see Darlene on Mr. Robot

Haven't seen that one yet - sounds like it might be just what I'm looking for.

It took me the first couple episodes to realize that was the same actress. Totally different roles!
