Making fun of Olive Garden is a bipartisan activity. Get a sense of humor! But please, if you are offended, turn off Letterman.

I'm glad you are having a good time, but aside from telling us you are a conservative who does not like Palin, what is your point? Perhaps trying to deflect the hypocrisy issue from Ensign, Vitter, etc?

Ugh, their food is dreadful. And, SO FAR from "real" Italian cooking it is not funny. Blech!!!!

They said “We apologize that Mr. Letterman’s mistake, which was not consistent with our standards and values, left you with a bad impression of Olive Garden” . I don't give advertisers either credit or blame for the content of shows that carry their ads, and I consider it pompous, moralistic and self-involved for them to act like this kerfuffle was about them. To be charitable, perhaps I should assume they were just engaging in the good old American pastime of grabbing publicity.

Anyhow, I will not refuse to go to Olive Garden on this basis. But since I was already not going there because the food I saw in their ads did not look anything like food I have seen in Italy, it's a moot point.

BTW, has anyone heard what A-Rod thought of the joke?

Of course you advertisers are associated with the content of the shows that carry their ads. Seriously?
I grew up in Italy; I like Olive Garden. It's not Italian food, but the bottomless salad is good and the waiters are nice.

And yes, lots of other people were besmirched. It is not funny to be pulled into a sexually offensive joke--predator or predatee-wise.

It's neither funny nor pleasant to be the butt of any of Letterman's (or Leno's jokes). But does it really make sense for Palin to claim that Letterman's stupid joke encourages sexual predators at the same time as the right is arguing that all the pro-gun and inflammatory rhetoric from Limbaugh, Hannity, et al has no connection to gun-wielding wackos?

David Letterman was joking. He's apologized twice. He got that the jokes were out of line. Rush Limbaugh spews invectives. He seriously wants Obama to fail. He's said as much twice. He mocks Ted Kennedy's terminal cancer. He deeply offends me and thousands, perhaps millions, of other people. I don't believe he'd ever apologize.
