SNL 2016-17

But isn't is essentially a new show every couple of years as the cast turns over? I don't get this (perennial) complaint. And they add/change up elements, like cartoons and pre-recorded bits and number of music segments.

Is SNL back down to one black person, Sasheer Zamata? Or is Keenan still there?

Moral of the story: show is still relevant and many people enjoy it, even if you don't.

+1. We DVR it every week it is new. I like 10-20 years ago as well. Not a fan of the early stuff. I liked Eddie Murphy but Dan akroyd and belushi were never my thing. I basically like from the Phil Hartman days on.

I like the 2000s on. Will Ferrell and company is about when I really started to make it a weekly thing to watch. Some of the earliest sketches I remember loving were Wayne's World, and the Church Lady, and then Will and Cheri Oteri's cheerleaders. So much of it is topical, current humor, so it's difficult to look back at older seasons and appreciate the humor if you weren't of age back then to get all the jokes.

There have definitely been some seasons that were better than others, as the cast gets more comfortable and finds different niches, but we DVR it every week, too. I think last season was actually one their best, especially with Kate McKinnon's Hillary Clinton. I'm excited for the election coverage! Not that Trump has much of a chance, but who will play him? They can't keep bringing Darrell Hammond back, and Taran Killam is gone.

SNL is so boring and stale; I wish they would just let it die a quiet death.

It has not been funny in years.

Ugh, I wish they'd get rid of Cecile .She's so rigid and can't execute her lines well.

I agree. Cecily isn't strong enough to be on the show and she is the source of some of the most sexist bits on the show. I don't know who is responsible for each of the skits but their "girl power" related songs etc are pathetic and have actually undone a lot of what Tina and Amy did.

I think Keenan will still be there, and Michael Che and Leslie Jones will also still be there.

Next!!!!! In Taran killam's old time critic voice. Aw I guess we won't see that guy again. DH and I thought those segments were hilarious.

In other words, it's a big hit at the nursing home.

Wish Pete Davidson was going instead of Taran.

holy cow I cannot STAND Leslie Jones. Don't think anything about her is funny, don't think she's got the talent to be on. Not sure just why it is I dislike her so much (I'm sure she's a nice person...) but if I've DVR'd and she's in something I FF right past it. Wish she had gone this season instead of any of the others

I did not like Leslie at first, but she grew on me. Her monologues on Weekend Update are not my thing, but I think she does better in the few sketches she's in. Pete Davidson on the other hand... I just don't get how he stays. I feel like it's still his first season, so he doesn't have any good characters yet or a regular contribution to the show. But his been there for a while now! Penis and weed jokes can only go so far.
