How ridiculous am I: living in DC, waiting until after mosquito season to start TTC?

I'd ttc now before it spreads up here.

I think that the first trimester is easier to get through when you don't have heat/humidity to deal with and having a baby in April/May is nice because then you won't be trying to navigate ice/snow when you are huge. And you won't likely go into labor during a blizzard.

If you truly have the luxury of being able to time conception - then Sept/Oct are good months for that IMO.

September and October conception dates mean June and July due dates.

OP, I've had these exact thoughts. Not really sure how to proceed, but it does seem like getting past the most vulnerable first trimester when mosquitos aren't around could be wise. But I'm not a medical professional.

I think the hard part about a decision like this is you don't know how long it will take you to get pregnant. So honestly, you are probably already moving into the time frame where you'd be out of mosquito season by the time you got pregnant. Depending when your cycles fall, it could easily be Sept before you're in a fertile period. And the chances of first try pregnancies are pretty low. So even if you got pregnant fast - say, two months - we're in mid-October. And if it takes you 6 mos, or a year...well, then we're in next mosquito season. So it's hard to judge.

My husband and I have had this same conversation, and just found out we're pregnant this week (yay for anonymous posting so I can tell you all!). We live a few hours South of DC, and we just plan to invest in lots of bug spray and enjoy the summer.
