Physicians for Women Alexandria - Long wait times?

So when it comes time for birth you won't necessarily get a doctor...you might end up with a midwife if the doctor is busy and then if there are any complications that require the doctor they will come in.

Yes, that's generally how it works.

I go to Physicians for Women, and I have never waited more than 5 minutes in the waiting room and 5 minutes in the room. I switch from Physicians and Midwives to Physicians for Women, because my first experience at P and M was waiting in the waiting room for 45 minutes and then in the room in a gown for another hour (with no one coming in to tell me there would be a wait until after 45 minutes!).

I have been a patient at Physicians ForWomen for 20 + years. The doctors have taken care of both my gynecology and ob needs through the years. Most times, my appointment started very near to the appointed time. I will say that on the occasion when I required a little extra time and help, the doctor was there for me. I was never rushed, and I was given excellent medical attention. If I have to wait for an appointment to begin, I can only assume that another patient required some extra attention. I like doctors who really take care of their patients.

I am 37 wks with my 2nd & go to physicians for women (switched for this pregnancy as well). Today was the first time I have ever waited & I had an 8:45 appt. Dr. Salgado apologized for the wait. I usually have the 8:45 appt but have also had 7:45, 9:45 and a couple afternoon appts. Today was the only day I waited more than about 5min.

I switched to Physicians for Women when I became pregnant with my first child. I've found that arriving about 15 min ahead of time almost guarantees that I will be called in at my actual appointment time. I also try to schedule the early appointments in advance, though this is primarily due to my work schedule rather than because of my concern about wait time. I've found all the providers to be knowledgeable and personable. If you come prepared with questions, they are happy to answer them, but they won't spend ten minutes trying to make you ask/think up questions, either. Come prepared and you will get your answers. I've also used the Advice Nurse line and the after-hours emergency page of the doctor on-call. Both returned my calls promptly.

I rarely have to wait long for appointments at Physicians For Women. These doctors have been highly ranked. In fact, Dr. Rothman has been OB doctor of the year according to the Washingtonian magazine for a lot of years now. I would stick with this group...
