Red lentil soup turned brown?

Use smoked paprika if you want it to be red. Add it to the oil for a min after you fry aromatics

But the pictures on the recipe looks orange or red and yet there is a question 'how to end up with NOT brown soup"??? How... Please a pro tell me so my soup looks appetizing !
