Lakes in Maryland and Virginia are dank and gross. Head to the Adirondacks, NH, or Vermont.


Thinking of going to SML, so I'd love to know what makes it gross.

Finger Lakes in NY. About a 6 hour drive. We leave at 6 and are there by noon.

Agreed. Cayuga is my favorite--I was actually just there last week with my family. There's a regulated swimming area in one of the regional parks right by a waterfall, where they've dammed off the water flow. It's gorgeous.
