Expectant and Postpartum Moms
And I, personally, have never seen that happen. My experience has been the opposite. Babies sleep BETTER cause mom and dad are in the same room. |
| Totally doable. We live in a townhouse, but we really only use our bedroom, our bathroom, the ktichen and living room. DS is just over 12 months and he has slept in his crib in our room since we brought him home. We keep saying we are going to move him to his room, but just haven't done it. And FWIW, he has not sleeping issues, he has slept through the night since month 3 with the exception of a few bad nights b/c of a cold or teething. The rest of the house is eseentially extra storage space and guest quarters. I think the main issue we would have if we were actually in a one bedroom would be storage, but it would probably force us to get rid of a bunch of stuff we don't need anyway so it wouldn't be a bad thing in the end. Good luck! |
| Just wanted to say that I was excited to read this thread as I have been wondering about the same thing. We have a one bedroom in a great location at below market rate rent. For saving space, I saw peg perego makes a 3-in-one high chair, swing, infant seat, and toddler table boster seat called "tatamia." There is always the co-sleeper or a "mini crib" which people say works into toddler age and then turns into a twin bed. The one I read about was the Emily Mini Crib by DaVinci. Aparentally lots of NYC families do the small space with a baby adventure. Glad to hear I wouldn't be alone here in DC! |
| My cousin lives in NYC in a 700 sf condo with 3 babies under 3 (a set of twins and a one year old). They spend a lot of time outside.... |
| 14:48, you might also want to try replacing your solid closet door with a louvered one. That way you won't have to worry quite as much about ventilation; if light coming through the slats is an issue, tack a blanket up. |
| we use the Emily Mini Crib but got the upgraded mattress. I think our son will fit until two. It is great and looks attractive. |

I just found this and am very willing to spend over double what we planned in order to save precious floor space in our 800 sq ft! |

A friend of mine has three children and they live in a two-bedroom condo. I could never do it, but they make it work.

Feel luck that you will have an BABY!
With an older child is much complicated. If is the one bedroom ap. that you can live now, them be there until you'll be able to move some where else. I was living with relatives when my child born and didn't think it was a big deal.Sometimes we need more privicy but that is all. |
| We are in a very small one bedroom with a 70 lb. pitbull and our 5 month old daughter. It's tough. I do think its one of those things that in a few years when we can move to something bigger, we will look back at this time as a rite of passage. There is a plus to living in a small space. You won't be climbing stairs or having to go very far to change a diaper, peak on the baby to still if she is still breathing (everyone does it), putting her down for a moment will you step into the bathroom, etc. Try to stay positive and have a sense of humor throughout your time there and remember that nothing lasts forever. |
| can the small apartment people give tips on most spacesaving/best furniture and gear??? thanks! |
