The 2 long term couples I know got married after it became legal.
6 couples in my condo building alone. At least 15 total, probably more.

My cousin, before it became legal nationwide (they married in California). They gave several children and have been together forever.
I can think of five couples just off the top of my head. Most of them are fairly young (30s), one in their 40s.

Admittedly I am gay. But at least 100 couples, probably more.
Food for thought. Some of us have been together for decades. We considered ourselves married years before it was legal. To go back and have a big wedding is for a lot of people a dream come true. For others it is in some ways offensive. My husband and I have been married 15 years (long before it was legal). We want to the courthouse and eloped the first day it was legal in DC. There were over 150 couples who married that day. Your questions sounds judgy and comes from a position of privilege. It is also somewhat offensive. |
I'm gay and most of my coupled friends have legally married in the past few years. Most had ceremonies 10-15y ago before it was legal and then did a private ceremony once it was legal. I am 45y.
