How do you become a MCPS ESOL teacher?

I posted about the VA ESOL program (former lawyer turned SAHM turned teacher here). It's a fantastic program and in Virginia there is a critical shortage of ESOL teachers at pretty much every level. It's a great job and I really enjoy helping the kids master language and access the curriculum (and think it's criminal they only get one year to accomplish this before being subject to the battery of state tests, ugh). It's too bad MD doesn't have a similar program.

And I'm the OP of that thread and this one - you inspired me! I plan to leave BigLaw soon and would love to do what you did, but alas, we live on the wrong side of the Potomac. As I wrote above, I am a proud elementary school ESOL graduate, and could see myself transitioning to and loving what you do in a couple of years when my kids are older.

Bump. Anyone have any more recent info? The va program link is no longer valid.

Go to the Virginia Department of Education website. They have a lot of information about achieving ELL certification or additional endorsements for those who are already teachers. I am just finishing a program for an ELL endorsement to my other certifications. The information you need for Virginia is all right there.
