Get some different pickles, mustards, or toppings for the burgers/ hot dogs to make it special and give folks some options.

I usually go with something something tangy, something fresh, something fruity, something creamy, something bready. Add something bean-y if vegetarians attend.

Tangy - oil/vinegar potato salad, non-mayo slaw, chopped veggie salad with vinaigrette

Fresh - fresh veggies with dip, green salad, grilled corn

Fruity - watermelon, cut fruit

Bready - garlic bread, burger buns count if you're grilling

Creamy - mayo-based salad, mac and cheese (a must for parties with many kids)

Bean-y - vegetarian baked beans or bean salad

A punch bowl with any kind of drink but I'm partial to those with the floating fruit or sherbet log.

grilled corn cut off of cob mixed with grape tomatoes cut in half, diced avocado, and cilantro. Dress with lime juice, honey, vegetable oil, salt and pepper, dash of cayenne and garlic.

Is corn good right now? Just served last night and not sweet and starchy.
