She just bought into the standard hype that all ambitious women in their 20's/ 30's believe ("oh, I can have kids anytime; this will never end, I'll be young forever) and ... surprise!

It's not hype. Many women easily have kids in their late 30s.

Not their first baby.

Again, go poke around expectant moms. I'm 40 and pregnant for the first time. Got pregnant first cycle, first try. It's not as unusual as you think, especially in career driven circles / areas.

And some girls buy into the hype that they need to get married by 23 and have kids by 25 and they miss out on a lot of great things that their 20s have to offer.

And? You are telling us this why?

All of their docs told then to gain weight, relax the exercising and try to get their cycles back on track. Some refused and needed ivf.

Because beautiful people shouldn't struggle to get pregnant? Huh?

+1. Had my first one month before turning 40. And no, it's not because I thought I had all day. That's when I met my husband.

You met your husband when you were 39 and had your child at 39... Hmmmm, sounds like something fishy went on.

That's great that it worked out for you both - really. But you can't really think that it's common to get pregnant immediately at 40 just because it happened to you.

http://www.parents.com/getting-pregnant/trying-to-conceive/getting-pregnant-at-every-pregnancy-age/

By the time she's in her 40s, 90 percent of a woman's eggs are chromosomally abnormal," Dr. Copperman says. Assistance from reproductive technologies becomes more common at this time, and not just because of the egg issue. There may be more issues with older male partners, and some women report an increase in uterine lining issues with age. The uterine lining thins and blood supply to it decreases with age, making it more difficult for the egg to implant.
