Reassure a nervous mom about infant swim lessons

Like the PPs said, your child will not be able to learn to swim until age 3 or 4 anyway. What you are doing now is getting him accustomed to the water and that is a big step toward eventually learning how to swim. If you seem anxious in the water w/ him, he will pick up on it. If you don't feel comfortable w/ what they doing, don't do it. My son is 4 and hated putting his face in the water until a few months ago. Now he swims underwater in the shallow end to retrieve objects. Most kids go through a period of hating water/baths, etc so just b/c you are getting him in the pool at 6 months doesn't insure he won't go through that stage too.
