Yeah, I've filled out two that had a note saying if you put in $1 or another fictitious amount you will be immediately disqualified.

So unfair.


Here's an example of the language and why you have to tell the truth:

What is your most recent annual salary? (Please note: these questions are required to be answered accurately and completely in order to be considered for employment. Answers will not disqualify you from any position at XXXX but are used as a basis for employment reference checks if you are selected for a position.): *

Most of these are only forms and don't necessarily allow for non-numeric characters or a range or any explanation. At my company, anyone who puts a salary expectation number that is not within our range is automatically screened out of consideration. The hiring team would never even see your resume if you put $1.
