DH didn't say Happy Birthday to me.....

I care how old you are. Your husband should acknowledge your birthday. He should make some concerted effort to wish you well. It may be that he made sure your kids acknowledged it and you should be happy about that. When he gets home grab the kids and him and go out to dinner together. No fuss, just fun.

If you want people to celebrate your birthday you have to tell them (1) when it is and (2) what you want them to do.

"Larlo, I was thinking I'd like to celebrate my birthday tonight at that Italian place. I can make a reservation if you're too busy."

Whatever...that's her husband and at a minimum should acknowledge his wife's birthday.

Lol. Should be don't care. As in irrelevant how long you live but you deserve love on your bday

Agreed....what a stupid comment that one shouldn't celebrate their birthday past age 21.

OP, how many years in a row (or overall) has your husband not said anything about your birthday?

I will grant you she needs to speak up if she wants to go out to dinner...but it's basic human decency to say Happy birthday. My boss put my bday on the Google calendar...it takes no effort to say it to your wife.

I have to defend the husband.
Come on people it's only a birthday BFD not to mention NHL and NBA playoffs in good swing there is a lot in our mind you know!! Get off our back. So what's for dinner?

Happy birthday, OP and 18:41!

But for real- OP's husband needs to step it up.

As for 00:34, you have to be kidding. You are, right? No one can be as backward as you seem to be.
Right?!

Happy Birthday OP!!
Hope you still managed to have an awesome day anyway!

Your hubby sounds like a Birthday Scrooge to me...!!!!

If he is a wonderful man + Father overall, I would just accept this as a shortcoming of his.
Perhaps growing up celebrating birthdays wasn't done very often..?!

Update, OP?

Birthdays should never end. I love birthdays. BUT, I love what Larla says to Larlo here. Just take control of YOUR birthday. Never assume anybody knows what you want or need. Tell them. Do it yourself.

Bingo. You are happy.

DH is a total dick for not acknowledging his wife's birthday. That's so hurtful, I'm sorry OP.

Did your day get better? Did you cave and make dinner?

2). He did it intentionally because he's a dick.

3). It was inadvertent. Which makes him a self-absorbed dick.

Make reservations for you and the kids. Leave a note and a package of ramen.

Happy Birthday!

Oh, yes. Speaking of self-absorbed dicks, I wouldn't be surprised if his "surprise" "for you" came at the end of the day.
