Improving DS's soccer skills and experience

We played rec a couple years ago, and then went to PAC and were pleased with the step-up from rec but still pretty laid-back club. Another child is in a higher-level club and PAC is not that intense at all, but there is still practice 3x/week and one game in Spring and Fall. If that it too intense, then you should stick with rec at a better club.

I think CCL is a good club. Scheduling, etc. has been great.

I think for younger kids though this idea that if you or your team isn't playing in CCL you suck or unworthy is ludicrous.

U9-U12 the most important factor is the coach and the type of training the kid is getting and the practice he/she puts in on their own time.

Let's face it--the clubs in CCL/2 are the biggest clubs in the area. Period.

There are really competitive players and fantastic coaches elsewhere as well. Some of the teams from smaller clubs in NCSL are fantastic.

The league your kid plays in is pretty irrelevant and not correlated to future success.

"CCL" is not a club it is a league.

Clubs have teams that play in various leagues.

They are not interchangeable terms.

You don't play for CCL, you would play for McLean on a team that plays in CCL.

Typo. Meant members are the biggest clubs in the area.

I was just clarifying the concept because the OP seemed rather new to how the travel soccer structure works is all. I knew what you meant but it could have been confusing.

No worries. I'm not one of the aggressive posters. I think both NCSL and CCL do a great job. I should say I have boy players, not girls. I just wanted people to no get so caught up on the leagues if they have 8, 9, 10 year olds. Research the coach and the Club philosophies and if you get a chance watch a practice.
