PACE for 2nd Baby

Again, easy for SAHMs, not so much for WOHMs.

Does anyone know if they organize 2nd time PACE groups by areas people live in? I don't need friends who live an hour away from me.

Were the people from all over?

Nope. Only in one area for the second timers.

This. It's in Chevy Chase and the women in my group we're from NW DC and MD. It was worth it as I was going through very different things with #2. You cannot bring your toddler to the group. It's just for babies and you. It's not easy to make friends when you have a newborn. PACE is not for neurotic women as one PP put it. It is a group of women who have babies around the same age. It saved me. It makes me get out of the house and be sociable.

This is too bad, I live in Virginia and would love to join a 2nd time moms group, but it's not going to be beneficial to me if my new friends all live in Maryland. It's hard enough to see the people that I already know that live half an hour away...

+1

I really like pace for second time moms. Wish I had done it with my first. Only bad thing is that it is only four weeks - you are just getting to know everyone when it ends. That said, most of us have kept in touch. We had moms from md, DC and va.

At how many weeks into pregnancy do you register for PACE?

However I have also met a number of other mom friends during these 2 years at story time, swim club, daycare, and in our neighborhood while out on walks. I even made a number of mom friends right here on the "expecting" board back when I was pregnant with #1. A number of us with similar due dates decided to meet up while pregnant. They were the ones who told me about PACE. While I don't think doing PACE for #2 would hurt (heck it will at least get you out of the house) also try to get out and about and introduce yourself to people you meet with babies. It's probably one of the easiest times in one's life to make new friends. Congrats on #2.

It sounds like you're a SAHM. This is much more difficult for a WOHM, unfortunately

Nope I'm a FT working mom! I think I am high energy.

Honestly - even if it just gets you out of the house for those four weeks - how awesome would that be? You often will go out to lunch with the gals afterwards so that is also nice. And the likelihood is that you all will meet up somewhere in the city for random activities so you won't be travelling to VA or MD or wherever each lives to meet up. I'd recommend it. I did PACE for my first and honestly maybe will do it for my second as I am due in the winter which is so different than a beautiful summer delivery where you are up and about. Anything to get me out of the house with baby!!!!

Is the only PACE in VA at Merrifield? I looked online and I think that's what it said. I live in Alexandria and honestly it would be a pain to have to drive to Merrifield but the group sounds amazing.

Depending on where you live and the time of year you get pregnant, I'd register or sign up ASAP. I wasn't able to get into a PACE group after I had my baby. They were full. I waitlisted, and by the time a spot opened up, my maternity leave was over. So I missed out.
