Recommendations--care package for friend stationed in Afghanistan

Anonymous
I am the OP of this post and I just want to check back in to say THANKS for all the great suggestions!!!! She has been so happy with the packages. Someone suggested separating out toiletries and food, so I've sent alternate boxes of each. I took your advice about what to send and what not to send--it was so helpful! I am glad to be sending them to her now but it really makes me wish I had been sending them all along, to service members I dont know. God bless all of you and your families for your service and sacrifice. You are so strong, and I admire you greatly.

Precisely why they invented they invented M&M's . It is currently the wrong season for these, but I know that girl scout cookies are always popular. Tootsie rolls are also a hit.

I have had requests from a female soldier for "girly" shaving cream and deodorant... She said that the women in her unit usually use mens stuff because that is what gets sent. So now I have a box full of Secret an Skintimate that is packaged up for Iraq. I assume that female service members in Afghanistan will appreciate some feminine deodorant and shaving cream as well. I'm sure she has told you how important the antibac gel is (in small bottles so they can keep in their pockets) because they may be shaking hands with the people who live there, and their culture and hygiene is different than ours. And yes, toilet paper is really great because they do not use it in that country and the issued tp is really awful!
Keep in mind that no matter what you send, your package is making her day and keeping her going over there.
