Need book ideas for vacation

I know several librarians who would tell you that the teen series are the best books out right now. Don't knock teen lit.

Just like Buffy - labeled a teen show, but smartly written and definitely appealing to adults.

If you like fantasy - Tamora Pierce is excellent - Teen - but not the typical girl who's coming into her powers but caught between two guys dreck that makes me want to throw the book against a wall. I just finished Trickster's Choice, which I really appreciated both from a mom perspective and the teen perspective (the main character runs away from home early on basically to show her parents she can... - but she's awesome - smart, cunning - and very sure that she doesn't want to get involved (too much) with dalliances, because she's doing too much other important stuff.

Station Eleven is by far the best dystopia I've read in the last couple years.
A Man Called Ove was a lovely book.

I loved Station Eleven! I also enjoyed Night Circus.

The Selection series - Kiera Cass

There's another 4 set of books, each one is an element name (Earth, Air, Fire, Water) - It's a good set, I read it at the beach one year.

My tween DDs read the Selection books and enjoyed them, but they are really for teen girls.

Eh my good friend who is a librarian recommended them and they are still good reads. There's quite a bit of good "teen" literature out there, hopefully you don't limit yourself just because you think you're too "old" to read it

Pp, not at all. In fact, I sometimes prefer YA books because my attention span isn't what it used to be. Tried the first book of the Selection and it seemed very shallow and poorly written.

LOL - Ok, because you didn't like them then no one else over the age of 19 will either. If you have nothing to add then run along. OP asked for suggestions so pony up or move to the next post.

Thank you all for these! I grabbed a few on kindle and (because I'm old) bought a few today. Appreciate the help, especially all the dystopian and sci-fi selections.
