First, don't call it a bribe.
Every parent I know incentivizes their child to do certain things and it usually begins with toilet training. Go to the bathroom, get a sticker or a jelly bean. Then it moves on to things like getting stickers to do homework and cashing in those stickers for a movie and popcorn. There is nothing wrong with reinforcing positive behavior this way and it's actually recommended by many child development experts. OP, I would change your approach slightly by doing something like giving him a star or whatever for each day of physical activity and then let him use the stars for things he wants. I would not force him to do a particular sport but that's just me. |

| Completely unfair to the other kids. Midway through the season, when your kid has had it with you and the sport, the coach will still have to give him playing time even though he doesn't try very hard or even care. |
