How was Maret for high school this year?

Kinda useless unless people start naming schools.

SI think the fact that the economy has been on the upswing the past few years plays into it.

And that DC area is generally recession proof.

Definitely a baby boom effect with so many siblings this year and way more boys than girls at our preschool through sixth. It was a tough year for male applicants.

And don't forget the 2010 Snowmaggedon boom!! They are incoming K!

Admissions officers said exactly all of this last year (no room even for siblings! more interest than ever! far more competitive than normal! so many qualified applicants!).

Just an anecdotal impression, but I saw far more boys than girls applying for Kindergarten. I'm not sure why that would be, but the observation above triggered my memory.

If it is true that there were a ton of boys, and sibling boys at that, this doesn't sound like new parents will do well in subsequent years either. For example, doesn't make sense to apply to Maret's grade 1 because they will need to accommodate the siblings who didn't get into K.

I heard the opposite at our K-8. There were a lot of first choice placements at our school and others.

What school? Westminster? They did very well this year but that is about it. This was a parent that told me.

No. Not a VA school.
