| GDS prefers to take kids from other private schools. Sidwell friends is the opposite they prefer to take kids from public school so maybe she could apply there for next year. I imagine the math there is fairly challenging |
| OP here again. Actually I did hear Wilson was weak in math - both on DCUM and from a friend who had 2 kids go through Wilson and is very smart and level headed. Confusing....11:59 great to hear kids go in to Engineering schools from Wilson, though I'm not sure that is what DD wants. Was this recent and do you know what the schools were? |
20% of this year's GDS freshman class comes from Deal alone. |
That's wrong: 20% of the new admits. Sorry. |
| OP - what math is your child taking now? Has she done any advanced science in school or at summer camp? |
| OP here actually I had heard from a level headed and smart friend who had two kids at Wilson recently that math there is really weak. 11:59 I am very glad to hear that kids got into engineering schools from Wilson, though don't think that's what DD wants. Was that recent and do you know what schools? |
| sorry for previous post. Wrong thread!! |
| 12:15 How do you know that 20% of new admits at GDS are from Deal? |
| Yeah how would anyone who isn't in the admissions office at GDS know that? |
Parents and students would know the number of kids from their school who accepted offers and then be able to do the math. GDS takes 50 new kids. If 20%, then 10 of the 50 come from Deal. |
My kid went to Deal and then started at another private for HS. I would have no idea who in her class came from Deal if it wasn't one of her friends. Deal is really large. |
I wouldn't but my kid sure would. |
| +1 on looking at Burke. If you like GDS, I'm guessing you'll like Burke too. Everyone always seems to mistakenly lump Burke and Field together, but in teaching philosophy, community, faculty, and diversity, Burke feels a lot more like GDS than Field. |
