Everyone in my car gets a booster, because I refuse to drive them if they don't. They are all elementary schoolers, and while one of them is tall enough not to require one, the blanket rule is best.

We do this too, boosters for everyone through Elementary. DH did not want to do the five step test on every kid who gets in the car and almost everyone at this age needs one anyway.

There are very few 8 or 9 year olds who are big enough to safely or legally ride with just a seat belt. I would provide the boosters but yes, it is completely reasonable.

There are very few 11 & 12 year olds who are not over the booster sest height and weight.

Most of my fourth graders' friends are either at or above the max weight and height. My kid is still short enough for a booster in fourth and very likely fifth, but his friends are all close to five feet tall with many if not most of them over or around 80 lbs.

Question -- if a 12 year old is 110 lbs and 5'4"- can they ride in the front seat? Or is it by age only?

It's legal but the recommendation says never before 13.
