When you say nursery do you mean PreK? If so, I know someone who is declining a spot, child is a boy.

If they do, it's not a first come, first serve. They have to look at the child who declined, the remaining composition of the class and then see who from the wait list pool would be best to fill the spot.

Keep in mind that many school balance m/f ratios as well.

Waitlisted at first choice then admitted two days later. The school did state in the WL letter that the admission committee does not rank WL applicants. Instead they reconvene, examine packages then select.

Maret K -is anyone declining? Our DC is WL-ed and we assume, since they are so small, they accept 1:1 for slots for K since most slots taken up by sibs/priority kids.
