Regarding the old folks, as people age, their teeth become looser and because of gum disease they have problems chewing and also closing their mouths because chewing requires breathing and regulating breath and chewing at the same time and this process is harder for the elderly -- it's why aspiration pneumonia is a risk. They really cannot, sometimes, do better. They are not "pigs." They are elderly.

Your daughter needs to be told, privately, that old people are not as vigorous (use another term) as she is. That they are doing the best they can, and she is being unfair, mean, and mean-spirited.

And so are the people on this thread.

Who cares? Dental problems can start in the 40s.
