No, it is not unfair. They are managing their yield. While difficult, you must've know this going in - they are independent schools and run process as they see fit.

No, it is not unfair. They are managing their yield. While difficult, you must've know this going in - they are independent schools and run process as they see fit.


How does early notification help manage yield? This whole yield thing confuses me... Any explation or insight appreciated.

I don't think it manages yield. I do think it is the school's way of being extra welcoming to increase the likelihood that admitted families will enroll. Making someone feel special, or making the admit seem personal, is a good strategy.
