I'm the one who works in the cannabis industry. The answer is "possibly." Some people get an anxiety attack from it while others get completely mellowed out. |
Op, I use weed to help with ADD. I microdose it to stay at a threshold level so ok at work. At 7 am, I eat 1/4 of a cookie, and nibble on 1/5 or less every two hours or so while at work. It works great: all day I am calm, focused and creative. Weed replaced coffee so no more strung out feeling at the day's end. And without coffee, I go to sleep earlier and sleep longer than before. |
What's needed are clinical trials, dude. Your "expert" opinion is meaningless. |
Jerk. |
I believe medical cannabis really can be effective as a medical treatment for attention deficit disorder . People who use marijuana as a treatment for ADHD often self-medicate, which means a doctor does not prescribe or recommend the marijuana they take.

I personally have severe attention deficit disorder; When I use weed, it's like my brain is a highway that's full of traffic and is all of a sudden completely clear!I'm MUCH more productive when I'm medicated. There is a myth that marijuana kills the brain. It's completely busted by this article http://www.ncsm.nl/english/health/marijuana-kill-brain |
Cannabis is another word for marijuna or weed. It is all the same.
I know a number of people with ADHD who self medicate with pot. They find that it slows all the racing thoughts and helps them to focus. Like most things, some will find it helpful, down will find it does nothing, and some will find it makes it worse. |
Recent research (actual research) shows more and more evidence of negative impacts on the developing brain. Once in your 20s only heavy use seems to be associated with negative cognitive impacts. |
As a research scientist you have to understand that at 21 the research will be much better. You also can not say the CBD the part of cannabis that does not get you high might be a safer alternative to stimulants. Also many people who have ADHD actually have anxiety that interrupt their ability to pay attention and CBD could possibly be a very safe alternative since stimulants have very real side effects, like anxiety. |
You need to read the research .. there is a component in weed that is extracted and used for many things but the part that makes you high, tHC is removed. |
It's true her mom needs to get educated. It's a very new drug but there already is amazing advances. |
CBD is better for anxiety. I've done a fair amount of research on CBD/MMJ for our teen and have a mother in AZ who smoke medical marijuana and it's hard to tell what symptoms it's helping her with - I think it makes her anxiety worse and have told her to add in CBD.
As far as effects on ADHD, I've not read of anyone claiming it's helped but I haven't googled that. CBD (you can buy legally as CBD hemp oil) has definitely helped for nerve pain (as in get off pain meds), headaches, anxiety etc. Marijuana helped our kid within 10 minutes with chronic fatigue - as in it lifted. It seems to require a bit of THC because the CBD didn't work as well although we may not have found the right dose as it's guesswork. |
Also I highly recommend watching CNN's Weed series, parts 1-4 if you want to learn more about what CBD hemp and medical marijuana are about -
Parts 1 - on CBD https://youtu.be/2FfMu7z9JPQ Part 4 https://youtu.be/R90JW1fTw8U Google youtube for parts 2 and 3. |
I know a woman who plans to give her 10 year old ASD/ADHD son medical marijuana. I think she's crazy, but she wants him to "sleep." Which is strange since he's already heavily medicated. I worry for him that's for sure. |
Wow. You're a peach. Do you have a child with special needs, or just generally enjoy judging the parents of children with special needs? What a lucky "friend" you have. Ugh. |
