Cracked heels

Anonymous
My twin sister and I have always suffered from severely cracked, dry heels. We recently had pedicures at Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa and were told to try a product called "Heel It." It's wonderful! I have used it twice a day (morning and night) - looks like a deodorant stick and smells wonderful. My heels have never looked better. I HIGHLY recommend it.

I found what helped my dry heals and other dry itchy feet problems is to wash my feet before bed (if you don't already). And to make sure to wash them thoroughly during showers. I read somewhere that keeping your feet clean really helps cut back on the need for pedicures.

Pumice in the shower and when working out , prior to putting on your athletic socks and shoes, coat your feet with vaseline and then go run, hit class or whatever you do.

After the first few weeks you will no longer require vaseline to soften your heels, lotion or creme should be sufficient.

I tried the kerasal last night (got it at CVS) and I have to say, I am impressed. I get a pedicure every other week in the summer, regularly pumice my feet, and try to moisturize them often , but still get cracked heels and rough toes and pads all the time, esp. in summer (the pool is the worst for them!). Last night I tried the kerasal and its great. I bet in 3-4 days my feel will be as soft as my daughters!! Yay! Thanks.

I have seen a podiatrist in Germantown, Dr. Majewski. He also has an office in Silver Spring. Very kind...friendly. (301) 515 - 3338. I am now trying to get my husband in to see him for those yellow toenails!

I do EXACTLY this! I keep a little pumice block in my shower & use it every day with some liquid bath soap while I'm showering. When I get out of the shower, I rub cocoa butter on my heels and put on socks while I'm getting ready, drying my hair, etc. When I'm ready to go out, I take the socks off & my heels are nice and soft.

I also use vaseline before I put my socks & sneakers on to work out. I hate to sleep in socks, but often when I get home from work I'll put moisturizer on my heels and put socks on until I get in bed.

My heels tend to get those deep painful cracks that bleed, and this regimen has totally eliminated that. If I go around barefoot or in flip flops all summer, my heels will be a dry cracked mess. For me the key is to moisturize and wear socks for a little bit of time each day.
