so was it the right call?

My pre-k4 and 1st grader had full classes and were so glad to be back. We are walkable (1 mile), though, so it was easier for us than for folks that live farther away.

Don't forget chances are many of your commutes to school were so easy peasey because so few people went to school, and the fed government was on a delay, further lightening this morning's rush hour. If the full thousands of kids and commuters were unleashed on the city, we'd be reading different stories.

According to WTOP, metro commuters were extremely light.

Nope, my story would be the same because we walk.

I think so. It did take an hour to get there (usual is 20 min) because of the terrible road conditions. But no one cared that we were late, and then I picked up early to avoid the parent rush at the end of the day and so that I could avoid the possible freeze during rush hour.

I say yes. Only two kids absent in my daughter's class (NW charter). The delay was a good call.

What delay, there wasn't one?

I can't say overall if it was the right call. My kids made it in, but traffic was a disaster there and back. Normal morning drop off is ten minutes - took 40. Same with trip home. As usual, getting from east to west of park wasn't easy. The first grader had a nearly full class. 4th grader had a half full class. Both teachers live in DC, and both were there.

What possible freeze? It's almost spring-like out there. Nowhere near freezing!

Yes. Our Capitol Hill elementary school was the same five minute walk away as always. Teachers were there, kids were there, very typical day.

Some charters did a 2 hour delay. Others didn't.

My kids charter did not -- all their teachers (MS) made it to school as did most of their classmates.

It is very slick out there tonight, I saw a woman totally wipe out on the sidewalk in NW DC, on an icey patch. Wondering about delays tomorrow.

Our day went fine. We walk to school, and a majority of kids came.

It was supposed to drop below freezing by 6pm. We usually get home around 6. I wanted to beat rush hour.

School should have been open but should have been a delay. Only marginally okay coz Feds weren't on the road at he same time, commuting home was something else.
