Funny you should throw your charter hate so quickly. The "new" charter Basis is who's kicking ass in DC after only 2-3 years of testing. Two Rivers, not new anymore is kicking ass...DCI, ITS, CMI are all showing promise after only a few years. What DCPS (save Deal) is doing as well as any of these "new charters"? Mayve Hardy. I don't get the charter hate. These "new charters" are giving opportunities for people that can't access Deal and keeping their tax dollars in the city.

Washington Global had a few open houses this year and they were also at the school fair. Did anyone who went get a good feel for the school? If so, is anyone applying?

I would love to hear more about CMI or IT. We are at a DCI feeder but I am considering other options b/c I have some concerns about DCI. TIA!

Ha! A lot of people have valid doubts about middle school in ALL jurisdictions. Middle schools tend to be a shit show no matter where you are. New charter middle schools just give you more options.

Funny how OP started this thread but has yet to identify the new MS she is referring to. How is thread helping her when everyone is guessing what she could have meant?

New MSs: BM & Global have diversity problems. CM & IT have experience problems. Basis has a philosophical problem. DCI has a facility problem. Latin seems okay.

Everything in DCPS is a dogpile other than Deal, but even Deal has problems - like being the size of Reston.

This is IT's 3rd year with middle school. They currently have 5th-6th. We have been very happy there. Teachers are very experienced, principal is probably the best in DC - she's that dynamic. I also appreciate the diversity of the staff. Looking forward to next year when we have our own floor.

Also, we have two friends at Hardy and one at Adams that are quite pleased as well.
