Woodbridge has some bad areas, but overall is much safer than PG or most of DC. That's why people tolerate the longer commutes.

Nope, Woodbridgeis is much cheaper than DC and that's why people tolerate parking lot traffic as a commute.

Fixed it for you

Here's an aid for you, in case you've forgotten that DC and PG are the murder capitals of our region, another reason why Woodbridge is a preferable alternative for many.

Ah, no. I hope you feel better by saying that though. As a NW resident, I feel MUCH safer in DC.

That's ok. That's why my house has doubled in value and houses still sell in a day. Good luck in Woodbridge.

And where are these murders taking place since you're the one saying it's after than "Most" of DC? Murders in DC are largely isolated and gang on gang.

You're out of your mind. Woodbridge is much cheaper than DC AND much safer than DC or PG. That's why people tolerate the commute. Have you ever even been to Woodbridge?

Yes, I have been to Woodbridge.. And yes, it is much cheaper than DC. And yes, because it is inexpensive in comparison that is why commuters sit in 90 minute parking lot traffic to get to and from DC work sites.

I slugged into the Pentagon daIly from Woodbridge. It was free and took 20 minutes. I LOVED Lake Ridge. Hated Old Bridge Rd.

No way did it take twenty minutes from Woodbridge to the Pentagon. Why lie. Heck you can spend five to fifteen minutes alone in the line itself.

x2

I work at the pentagon and I find people in Woodbridge/Dumfries are in the biggest denial about their commute for the entire region. I have a guy who swears it is like 15 mins door to door, I can't do that at midnight in a Porsche but hey what do I know.

I am so happy I moved to Woodbridge from DC area. Reading now all these mean comments and haters makes me appreciate more living here. People here are more open minded, tolerant and respectful than in DC. May not be as rich, but have better values for sure. I am glad my kids will grow in a not so shallow and competitive atmosphere.

My house in VA had more than doubled when we sold. Sorry your timing wasn't as good.

+1...I'm guessing the commute from Woodbridge to Belvoir is pure torture. I live in Lorton and avoid Route 1 during rush hour because the PWC folks are sitting in traffic trying to get back to the hood.

79 homicides out of a 2014 population of 904, 430 amounts to .008735%. I wouldn't exactly say that PG is the dangerous place you make it out to be. If you care to analyze the graphic a little more, you would see that most of the homicides in PG are clustered around the DC line. Bowie, Cheverly, University prk, Berwyn Heights, Mitchelville, Upper Marlboro,Greenbelt, Glen Dale, and a number of other cities around the county are more than safe. But are people seriously comparing Woodbridge, population 53, 000 with an entire Md county. The kind of comparison certainly typifies an "apples to oranges" comparison.
