Op here: we ended up trying clever dog (ok but not great), Petco (horrible, left mats behind her ears and charged us $100). We went last week to Studio groomers in Four Corners in Silver Spring and they did an AWESOME job. We will never go anyplace else. They cut her face fur with scissors into a perfect puppy cut, shaved the matted areas in a way that blended with the rest of her fur, and the people were really nice. Lauren is the one that did our pup. It wasn't cheap but worth it.

How much was studio groomers? We pay $130-150 monthly right now and that seems to be normal.
