Back on track here. My family is like this. Also add in trips to Walmart and what was purchased and meals recently eaten.

I'm early '40s and a historian. I might want to hear some of those. Beats my mother's stories of outrages on public transit.

I don't think OP is so wrong here. If the woman was sitting there, head back, eyes closed, reciting illnesses, that is not conversation. That's a monologue, and it is rude and selfish. Make eye contact, at least!
