Do you see family when you are in their hometown?

If schedule allows, yes. I have cousins all over the place.

My brother doesn't. He doesn't see us and it stings a little. He's in and out of DC for just a night or two typically. I know it doesn't make sense to stay with us as his company pays. We are in the suburbs and he needs to be downtown. The commute would add unneeded stress. This is where we grew up but he doesn't live her anymore so it gives him an opportunity to see old friends who don't travel to see him like his sister.

I guess it depends, but generally yes. If I'm going back to my home town, I stay with my parents anyway because they have the space. If I'm going up to NYC, I have an aunt who lives about an hour out in NJ - I'll make a point of seeing her if I'm there long enough, but I won't necessarily make a day trip out to see her in NJ if I'm only there for 48 hours for a set agenda.

Yeah, that would hurt me too, even if I get the logistics angle of it. I'd offer to meet up after work in downtown while my husband took care of daycare pick up but if he had plans with friends, I wouldn't push it.
