| I decided I was not comfortable with the procedures and choose to adopt. Its ok not to be comfortable. |
+1 your body, your choice |
| OP you may not need to do PIO shots. I did Endometrin suppositories which is not great but doable. I'm also one of those weird ones who don't use tampons so you can imagine my discomfort. |
|
Do you think you'd be okay with the subcutaneous shots for stimming? Is it just the intramuscular you're worried about?
I was very nervous about giving myself any kind of shot at first, but it has turned out to be really easy. I just ice before and after. The PIO shots make my butt sore, but otherwise no issues. Everyone reacts differently though. I agree you should ask about using suppositories instead, but if you need to do any shots, just go for it. You might surprise yourself. |
same here. it's ok to decide IVF is not right for you! |
| Yes, and it's a main reason that I chose NCIVF. I had to hire a nurse to do the trigger, and that wasn't financially feasible. |
OP here. Wow. That is quite the story. Thank you for sharing. I'm amazed that you were able to go through it twice with the phobia. |
|
I've done three IVF cycles and never did the PIO shots. Patches for estrogen and suppositories for progestorone. I think it's doctor preference, so you can find a doctor who doesn't require it (fwiw, I see Dr. Frankfurter).
I also have a needle phobia and have been able to handle the stims through icing and getting DH to give them to me. Monitoring has been a challenge, and I have had a couple of minor panic attacks (both times when a new nurse was taking blood and she wasn't successful the first or second time of sticking me), but I've been able to get through it. |
| Also, you can ask your doctor to do minimal blood draws. There are some days when they absolutely need it and others when they can have you come in for an ultrasound but no blood work. Good luck, whatever you decide! |
