is a root canal that bad?

I had nitrous oxide for mine, happy feeling........

I have 15 crowns, four for cracked teeth that did not need root canals. I should have a line item in my will for my teeth. My husband calls me the Queen of crowns. Ugh.

+1. The crown is the worst, and in my experience more painful to recover from.

OMG yes. I haven't had a root canal but had to get a cavity filled and that feeling was awful. I got really panicky at one point cause i let it get to my head too much that I couldn't swallow.

Sounds like you have issues other than the cavity.

OP, no, they're not bad at all. If you're all there, that is.

Um, I'm OP, and I did not write the "OMG yes" comment.

It was much easier than I thought. As mentioned make sure you go to an expert, not a general dentist. Bring music as a distraction.

OP here. Had it done. Still uncomfortable, even though on antibiotics. Feels very "pressure-y". Is this pressure upwards and to the side teeth normal the day after or should I be feeling absolutely nothing at all?

The day after I remember feeling some soreness and pressure, especially if there was an active infection (with the antibiotics it sounds like you have one, too). If there's pain that ibuprofen can't relieve, call the doc, otherwise give the tooth and your jaw a few days to settle down.

I would have one everyday if it wasn't so expensive. didn't hurt one bit. I ate like 8 hrs later

I like getting root canals. I love a long slow root canal

Me too. I could have cared less. They could have drilled my eyeballs out and I would have been all "go ahead, have fun"

Music as a distraction is a good idea.

In rare cases, part of the nerve in the tooth is dead and part isn't. That's ... not fun.

Let me preface by saying I'm a few drinks in tonight, but I find this laugh out loud funny. Bravo.

Nah, root canals aren't that bad. The pain beforehand that leads to the root canal is the rough part.

OP here. 3 days after back-most upper left molar RC, still lots of pain and pressure. Maybe high discomfort a better word than pain? Can't take a whole lot of advil due to stomach issues. Called endo and he said normal to have this much pain post-procedure? 4 nerves removed. Feels like a lot of pressure up in sinus area, even pushing to the right side of facial bones. Still on amoxicillin.

You may want to ask about a short course of oral steroid to help with inflammation. Specifically thinking about dexamethasone or however it's spelled. I needed it.

Yeah, the jokes we grew up with are outdated. It's not bad at all these days.
