Does your child's school take enough field trips?

In 6th grade, the WES students travel to Utah. I can't recall what else they do.

In 7th grade, in addition to the beginning of the year overnight, there is a field trip to the FDR and MLK monuments, where the students sketch the monuments, using techniques they study in art class. And the "big" trip is the Italy trip (which is part of the tuition) and includes much sketching and a play conducted in Latin in some ancient Roman ruins. They also visit the house of a boy whom they read about in Geography or English class (forget which one). Point is, they do integrate the curriculum into the field trips so they are very rich learning experiences. Although not quite a field trip, every year, students from long standing exchange programs in France and Spain visit and stay with school families.

Then in 8th grade, the WES students travel to France or Spain to visit the same students who've been over to see them. Again, an early in September "back to school" overnight nature type trip with faculty. And in November an amazing science trip to the Chesapeake Bay where the kids travel on a boat to the remote islands and work on conservation and marine biology field projects with their amazing science teacher, Mrs. Earle. Also in 8th grade, they're fortunate to get a "behind the scenes" tour similar to those mentioned by a pp, that is only due to the generosity and continued engagement of the parent of alumni students.
