| That precious cat litter is one of the best things you can do. |
| Until you get the problem solved, can you put down towels or puppy pee pads for him to pee on? I have one who does this occasionally and, after I make sure it's nothing medical but simply idiopathic, I put a folded towel there, she goes on the towel, the towel soaks it up so it does not go thru to the floor, and I just toss the towel in the wash, and replace with a new towel. It's all in the master bathroom so nobody really sees it except us. |

Thanks, everyone!
We will definitely use puppy pads and towels and a bigger box. He was at the vet recently so I don't think he's sick, I think this is behavioral. This cat has no desire to go outside. |
We bought squares of clear hard plastic at lowes ( similar to what you would put under a desk for rolling chairs but not the odd shape) that are about twice the size of the litter box. If there are "accidents" it goes not he plastic and not the floor. We have also found one cat prefers the bath mat. I bought a couple of extras, and swap them out as they need washing. -- Although, I found being extremely diligent about scooping the litter and regularly hosing out the boxes is the most effective deterrent. Don't using anything with scent (lysol, bleach, etc.) to wash the litter box as it might deter the cat from using the box. Good luck and pls don't give up on your kitty. He/she is trying to tell you something in the only way it can. |

my vet suggested getting one of those trays that goes in a dog crate...the metal ones...and putting the litter box on that so it's more contained.
I'd take him to the vet to at least rule out a bladder infection or something physical. |

Friend had this happen too once had a kid. Cat didn't like the new addition and peed all over. They got rid of the cat.
So, maybe it's just the kid being there. |
| Another great litter box for huge cats is the cement mixing tubs. Larger than the largest litter box, not really tall sides so all cats can get in and out, sturdy, etc. Much less expensive than litter boxes, go to lowes or home depot. I'll never buy another "real" litter box |

+1 to new bigger litter box, plastic floor cover, and puppy pads. Also extra attention if you can.
I have one cat who decided that peeing on the bathroom rug was much more fun than using the litterbox. Fortunately that fix was easy: I got rid of the bathroom rug and the problem went away. |
