Tell me about Mini-IVF

Anonymous
To the poster who is going to Cornell: Would you mind telling us what your dosages were at Shady Grove versus at Cornell? I am going to stay at Shady Grove for another cycle, but I could suggest to my doctor that I use less meds. I'm not a great responder, though (5 eggs/3 mature on first IVF and 10 eggs/7 mature on second, but no blasts either time), so I'm worried that I'll get nothing on lower doses. But I'd be interested in your numbers. Thank you!

Hi PP. At Shady Grove, over the last 3 cycles my dosage averaged at 450 IU Follistim (this didn't change, I don't think) PLUS 225 IU Menopur. Towards the end of my last Shady Grove cycle, the Menopur was upped to 300 IU -- four vials. So at most I was on total 740 IU of FSH/LH.

I haven't begun to stim at Cornell yet since I am waiting for my co-culture biopsy first, but based on my phone consult, I'll be starting with 100 mg of Clomid for a few days, then 150 IU Follistim plus 75 OU Menopur. A huge difference, but obviously, we still have to see if that does the trick. I'm sure certain things will be tweaked along the way. Both protocols included Ganirelix as well.

I can understand being afraid of fewer eggs since as it is you're getting no blasts. I was in the same situation at Shady Grove, which is why Cornell wants to transfer on day 3. Upon leaving SG, I was told they would consider a day 3 if I were to stay, so you might want to push for that. Best of luck to you, PP.
