Expectant and Postpartum Moms
| I felt great for most of my pregnancy. I am 38 weeks now and still feel pretty good though I'm dealing with minor issues like swelling, fatigue and general aches and pains. I agree - attitude is everything. Good luck!! |
| Overdue and I still feel great. I have had an easy pregnancy all around. People kept warning me about the third trimester or the last month or the last 2 weeks.....but it hasn't hit me. I could stay pregnant with no complaint. My husband and I are both super-busy with non-baby things so I don't thing the mental "waiting game" has affected us as much as it does some people. And physically, I still feel excellent - a tummy that makes it a little hard to bend over, etc. but I haven't had any back or hip pain, any nausea or fatigue or swelling. I sleep fine and still walk and swim and so forth. |
| I too had an easy 3rd trimester. I had no trouble sleeping and stayed as active as I could right until the end. As a matter of fact, I was going on 1-2 hour power walks every day until I delivered (I was 2 weeks late). Sitting in a desk chair for long periods of time would hurt my back, so I would bring a large yoga ball to sit on. I also occasionally would have round ligament/hip pain, but nothing terrible. I recommend staying as active as you can right until the end -- it will help with your recovery from birth. |
| My back pain and BH contractions kicked in on day 1 of my third trimester. The baby's kicking started getting kinda painful that week, too. I felt great throughout the first and second tris (except for insomnia), and now, at week 31, am feeling panicky about having two more months of this to get through - and it only getting worse. So far, though, no swollen ankles or major problems. I'm pretty ready for this heat wave to pass, though! |

The last month was really brutal -- though I would still say the first trimester (really the six weeks of exhaustion and nausea) were the absolute worst part of pregnancy.
I was pretty active throughout pregnancy and in the last month, all I could do was walk, and only about a mile. I was completely unprepared for the joint and pelvic pain. I could barely put on a pair of pants! And of course, it's hard to sleep, you're heavier than you've ever been in your life, etc. I tried to stay positive by thinking about how close I was to meeting my baby, and by heeding others' advice -- sleep, sleep, sleep! This is your last chance!! Warm baths helped a lot too! Good luck to you! |

Thanks again you guys! i'd say that for every person warning me about the terrors to come (both online and in my real life) there are 6 or 7 of you who say you sailed through it! Or, maybe more accurately, that it was hard, but not impossible, and certainly not torture.
FWIW, when I say I feel "great," I suppose I should also mention that I have sciatica, back pain (and trouble sitting in one place for long) and my feet hurt quite a bit I have this bizarre problem called exterior snapping hip syndrome that's kicking my butt sometimes. So I suppose I should say "feeling good" is all relative. To those who said they told their doctor: "yes, I had heartburn, kidney stones, etc, but all in all, I enjoyed being pregnant," I completely understand. I do the same thing with my doctor -- I just mention the symptoms so that I can make sure they aren't anything serious, and then I say "but I feel fantastic!" (And I mean it). So yes, I'm determined to keep feeling fantastic (no matter how much it hurts). HA HA HA! I hope you all will keep these posts coming -- and I'm sending hugs to those who are suffering through their third -- you're on the home stretch now! |
