Typical driver:
Douchebag civ'y policy analyst from DoD who spent time at the Baghdad embassy behind the blast walls for 4 months, but actually never left the compound.

Yet when he comes back to Alexandria, he likes to play War Hero. Probably spends his weekends at the local CrossFit box and playing in AirSoft tournaments with nicer gear than our soldiers get.

Thanks for not giving a f*** about global warming or our children's future.

How else are you supposed to tow a boat or camper, or even a small horse trailer? (np)

You shouldn't pull a horse trailer with a 4runner. Too small. Need a pickup or suburban

At least she didn't inquire about a 34% coal-powered TSLA. Even if you could charge it using nat gas-fired generation facilities, it still has a larger carbon footprint than the 4 runner.

I hate the color. I have the 2015 4Runner in Barcelona Red.

For the haters, I actually take mine off road a couple times per week as a result of my hobby. However, I commute by walking and public transportation, so I probably drive less overall than many of you.

What if OP only drives 4,000 miles a year, lives in a 1,500 sq foot house and conserves resources?

Do you really think you're doing us a favor buying a hybrid (which has a much larger carbon footprint) and driving 15,000 miles per year and living in your 4,000 tract mansion in chantilly

I had a 1998 4Runner. I had that car forever and to date it's still my favorite car I ever owned. However, the reason I did not get another, is because I do not like how they redesigned it at all. Plus, the color is not so hot and if you ever want to resell it, it may be a bit more difficult.

We have an older 4Runner. We use it only on the weekends and to tow shit (husband tows his fishing kayaks). Awesome car that we will have for as long as we can keep it running. And it's actually still worth close to what we paid for it 5 years ago. But I also don't particularly care for the newer ones.

As for the judgmental people, we don't use it for commuting (DH uses public transport and I WAH) and we hardly ever fly anywhere (isn't flying one of the worst things for the environment?). Anyway, not every person you see in a big car is thumbing their nose at the environment. I also don't think most people buy 4Runners for taking their kids to soccer--there are plenty of better SUV options for that.
