The ones at Harris Teeter are actually decent and cheap if you buy 6 or 12.

Because both are acceptable spellings of the word

Do you realize that Merriam-Webster recognizes "donut" as a valid variation of "doughnut"? Or do you like to ignore reference material and still believe the world is flat?

OP here. Thanks for the replies! There are definitely places mentioned that are new to me. Would donuts still taste fresh if I buy them the night before? Thanks again!

I can always tell when they were bought the night before.

The best thing about Krispy Kreme is that the glazed are warm from the cooker. No cold donut can beat that. Don't buy them to night before

OP asked for places near Rockville - I agree that there are better donut shops in the area but can't think of any that are close to Rockville. I love Astro but its downtown.

Donuts taste way better if reheated in the microwave for just a couple seconds. But you need to eat them promptly after that or something funny happens with the texture.

Dunking Donuts have gone downhill where I live. They ship them frozen by truck and then thaw them. The result is always something soggy and gross. A new doughnut place opened called Sugar Shack but the doughnuts are like eating wonder bread with Betty Crocker frosting. Whatever happened to doughnuts? Why is it so hard to find anything worth eating?

Yes, but only if you call them doughnuts. JK.

The last two times I was there at 6:45 AM, they didn't have them out yet. Not sold out, they were still baking them.
