Driving vacation the week between Christmas and New Years?

OP here. This is DH's idea. I think the kids would love it, but it's pretty much a one night thing, right?

This is what we are doing. The Poconos one. We reserved 2 nights at GWL and 2 nights at a ski resort. We've never been to GWL and the kids will be new to skiing. I know there may not be snow, but I suspect we can find other winter activities as back-up.

I'm in the minority but we can do two nights there and not mind it at all. Actually have fun!

Why don't you do Williamsburg? 1 or 2 nights at Great Wolf then the rest of your stay can be spent at another resort in Williamsburg. You could do Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg.

I agree. I don't think 1 night is enough at the Great Wolf Lodge. We just went for 2 nights, and my kids would have been happy to stay a 3rd.

Drive to NYC and spend a night or two, then head to Montreal and spend a night, then move on to Quebec City for 2 nights and then head back.

Someone posted pics of Quebec in winter on a recent thread. It looks super fun!

The thought of basically spending 1/2 your vacation in the car sounds miserable. Worse than FL, because you're going to be freezing your butt off everytime you stop to stretch your legs.

??

It's an easy drive to NYC. I would drive there, stay in Times Square, and see a show. You would arrive by lunchtime easily.

The next day would be a longer drive to Montreal, but you could probably break it up. Then spend two nights there before moving on to quebec. You would go there for the winter activities. Spend 2-3 nights, then head back.

People drive straight through to FL...and it's a much longer trip.

Or just fly.
