bleeding - did you Dr want to see you?

Anonymous
I had spotting 3 or 4 times in my first trimester. Every single time I called my Dr's office, and they scheduled me in that day to do an ultrasound. Everything ended up being fine, and I delivered a healthy baby, but I'm very thankful that they eased my mind by having me come in. Hearing the OP story, it makes me much happier to have been in my practice.

PP Here. I should note that I was with a fairly large practice (Capital Women's Care), and they still worked me in every time.

OP, sorry to hear about that. The odds are everything will be fine! I had unexplained bleeding on the 2nd trimester. It happened on the weekend, so I spoke to the oncall doctor. Whether they would see me right away depended on the symptons: quantity of blood, color, if accompanied by pain and other symptons. I ended up having an ultrasound and all was fine. Also if the woman is Rh negative and bleeds to a good amount, the doctor might decide to apply a Rhogam shot. I'd say it's best to talk to your doctor next time and discuss the procedures in situations like these.

In my first pregnancy, I had a bit of spotting the day before my scheduled 20-week ultrasound. I called the Dr.'s office and they said since I already had the U/S scheduled for the next day, to just go in then.

In my 2nd pregnancy, I started spotting at 6.5 weeks. I called the office the next day when the bleeding got heavier. They asked me if I was having pain and if the bleeding was severe. I was told if I started soaking through more than 1 pad an hour to either come into the office or go to the emergency room. I had an appointment that had already been scheduled for the next week, so I just went in then. The Dr. ordered an HCG test then to see if my levels were dropping appropriately.
