Rained out in Disney?

Anonymous
It rained every afternoon we were there, but then most people left. We returned to a much quieter park.

People pay money to walk around Disney in the rain?

People may have already purchased their tickets before the rain.

For about 8 months out of the year, it rains at least 5 times per week. Sometimes only for 10 minutes, other times for as long as an hour or two. It is very hard to avoid the rain in Orlando (my parents have lived in Orlando for 30 years, so I've been there a lot).

When we go to Disney, we always bring ponchos and umbrellas in the one backpack that I carry for the family. Additionally when we rent a stroller, I rent from a place that includes a rain cover for every rental. We have had times that we put the kids in the double, put the rain cover on and then soldiered on to the next location with us in our ponchos. We also have ponchos for the kids if we park the stroller and walk. The good thing is that it's usually pretty warm when it rains so not such a big deal to be walking out there as long as you have a cover up. Nowadays, there are many attractions and restaurants with indoor space at the parks, so there's usually someplace to run into if you need. We check the daily/hourly weather report and we try to shift lunch to be as close to when the highest chance of rain will be. We've managed to stop for lunch quite often during the daily rain showers.

We found the lines shorter and loved getting onto more rides more quickly.

People underestimate just how much of the parks are under cover. Most headliner lines, for example, are indoors. You can easily wait out a downpour in the standby line of Soarin'. Otherwise -- soldier on in your poncho, gift shop, restaurant. I'd rather hang out in a rainy park than fight for a spot on a bus crowded with soggy people!

If you can, bring different colored ponchos from home. It is easy to lose people when everyone in the park is in the same Mickey poncho.

Tevas/ flip flops are a great idea too.

You can also just ride the train around the Magic Kingdom until it stops- or you see a really short line for something.

Disney Quest is still open and an afternoon of video games is fun for older kids.

Disney Quest is or already has closed.

Disney Quest will not close until 2016.
