Volunteer to help - actually at our MS while there nominally was a teacher sponsor, the parents ran the whole club and where desperate for more volunteers. More volunteers meant more kids could participate.

Biggest difference is not time commitment (for us they were similar) but philosophy -- OOTM is very kids-self-directed, kid-led and SO is very parent-led.
