Speech therapy, feeding therapy, OT for toddler--feeling overwhelmed

Didn't read all of the responses, but wanted to say, I had the same issues. No words until close to age 3, eating issues (far worse than what you describe and a dx of FTT with a weight at the 0.06 percentile) and sensory issues. I used the Language Experience for speech and feeding issues. I know they have offices in NOVA, just don't know where. I never did do OT for my son except through the school system, which only lasted for six months.

FWIW, my son is now in his teens and is still a picky eater, but at about age 11, he started eating in response to hunger and that was life changing. He still has some sensory issues - loud noises and the feel of certain clothes. But they are manageable. I carry ear plugs in my purse and I avoid buying what he won't wear.

If your dilemma is wading through all the possibilities about what might be happening with your child and then wading through all the possibilities about what to do about these things, then I really recommend a global exam by a developmental pediatrician. It gives a great overview and can help you figure out the best next step. I know a few people who have regretted going to see a developmental pediatrician because they were not ready for what that doctor had to tell them, but most people I know feel like it was really helpful. Sorry you are going through this. Feeding issues are so frustrating.
